小南瓜眼下在上小学四年级。这是他去年上半年（三年级）码的一组英文诗歌。当时疫情猖獗，学生们都猫在家里上网课，老师的要求之一就是每周码一首诗歌，作为课后作业。
基本上极少具体检查督促小南瓜的学习（俺感觉俺当不成虎妈，呵呵），乍一看小南瓜的习作，真有点儿出乎俺的意料。须知俺当年上小学三年级时还在和错别字做艰苦卓绝的斗争。那时别说 poems，就算奋力码一首粗浅至极的顺口溜，我都会不知不觉中陷入沾沾自喜的状态，简直不可救药:)
1) Willow the Wasp
I am a wasp that is yellow and black
You be careful I have a stinger on my back.
Bees and ants are my brothers
We are so close we watch out for each other.
I could torture people like a pest
I also live in a very big nest.
My nests can be either be in a tree or the ground.
My nests can be oval or they can be round.
Unlike a bee I can sting more than once.
Ask my poor little friend named Chrime.
2) Friends
A friend is someone who cares for you,
They're respectful, trustworthy, and truthful too.
But maybe you forget to do what is right,
And you get into a hurtful fight.
When you realize you've done something wrong,
Say you're sorry and then get along.
You can have lots of fun together,
In the different kinds of weather.
Having friends that last forever,
Is to me a great endeavor.
3) A Day in the Summer
The warm summer's breeze
danced through my hair.
A wonderful smell of pine
filled the fresh air.
The moving grass felt soft
beneath my toes.
Then a falling berry
landed right on my nose.
Beyond the eye could see
was all warm and bright.
Sun poured through the trees
making warm and cozy light.
4) Birthday
Birthdays are the best
way better than the rest.
Birthdays are fun for anybody
because you're not a nobody.
I hope your day is great
Maybe your day is going just straight.
I hope you get the good way,
So go and enjoy your very special day!
5) Raccoon
Raccoon, raccoon
Why do you hunt under the moon?
No one is nice to you,
no one thinks you are nice too
Why do you wear that mask?
Does it hide you while doing your task?
You're more around the night
is it because of the light?
You were created as an animal that is very wild
You don't act very mild
Where did you get your energy?
You're busy as a bee
Raccoon, raccoon
Why do you hunt under the moon?
No one is nice to you
no one thinks you are nice too
6) Dinner Time
When it came to dinner
The Lins were not prepared
They sat down at the table
And the food at which they stared
The celery was stringy
And green as the grass
The table was tired
With all that food to grasp
Everything was serene
But then it got old
Everyone had to cope
With every
Slurp, Slurp, Slurp of the Lin family, so bold
The Lins were ecstatic
At how much everyone ate
For they had very little
On their very own plate.
7) I Love to Relax
My life is a cloud because I love to relax.
When I do relax I feel as weightless as a cloud.
I relax at my house, and when I do collapse.
When I get settled I make sure it's not too loud.
A cloud floats where the wind blows
And I follow where my parents take me.
I don't care where I go, but if it's a bad place I know.
When I float where the wind blows I feel free.
8) Colors
Colors will make your day,
Make you smile with its own special way.
Colors are the sun rays of all the beautiful days,
It's like the fragrance of sweet honey,
Like the feel of a tropical breeze.
Without colors everything will be plain.
And we would be insane.
It's like a zebra without its stripes.
A piece of candy without its taste,
A book without its cover.
Colors are like friends,
They bring color into your life.
Colors laugh with you,
Colors cry with you.
Colors do everything with you.
Colors are immortal,
More precious than gold,
Without colors
I don't know what we all would do.
